The focus of our training here at Denman Athletics is functional strength training.

You can sign up directly through our website or through the app Mindbody. You can also visit our gym in person or give us a call and we can guide you through the process of deciding what would be the best fit for you based on your goals.

Personal training offers a fully individualised approach to your fitness goals. You receive one-on-one attention from one of our coaches who can design a workout plan specific to your needs, track your progress, and make changes to ensure you are headed in the right direction.

Small group sessions focus on functional strength training as well as conditioning. If you are looking to get an effective workout in but have a hard time doing it on your own, our small group sessions are the perfect place to do that under the guidance of our coaches.

Our workouts require proficient use of barbells, dumbbells, free weights and kettlebells.

If you have never used these pieces of equipment before or have been out of training for some time, we recommend that you start with personal training and discuss your goals with your coach so you can transition into the group sessions. That way you can work toward proficiency with those pieces fo equipment so you can get the most out of your workouts safely.

If a class you would like to take is full, we highly recommend putting yourself on the waitlist – it works!

When you see the classes full, click on it, and it will ask you if you want to add your name to the waitlist. If the waitlist is full it will tell you that too. If a spot opens up, you will be added to the class and receive an email confirmation.

IMPORTANT: it is assumed that by being on the waitlist, you will be able to take the class if you get in. If you no longer wish to take the class please remember to remove yourself from the waitlist. If you fail to remove yourself and are added to the class within our 12-hour cancellation, it will be a late-cancel and you will forfeit the class.

If you are on the waitlist, you are also welcome to come to the studio to be on standby and if someone does not show up by the start time of the  class, you will be able to take the spot.

You can find the class schedule on our website or through the app Mindbody.

If you are looking to make progress, we recommend training consistently 3 times per week. Your goals, lifestyle, injuries, etc. of course will effect this but if you are looking to actually make progress toward your goals – consistency is key.

All personal belongings must be left outside the studio. Only water bottles and towels are allowed to be taken into the studio so that the space is kept safe and clear for all our members.

We recommend arriving 10 minutes before the start time of the class.

The class starts at the time class is scheduled and it is important to be there to hear the full breakdown.

Arriving 10 minutes before the class will give you some time to situate yourself and get some mobility in prior to the start time.

If you are not here for the start time of the class, a guest on standby will be offered your spot.

No guests (scheduled or waitlisted) will be able to enter the studio after 2 minutes past the start time of the class.

It is recommended that you come dressed ready for a workout, a water bottle and a small towel. Small face towels are provided.

There is street parking outside the gym. It is paid parking between 9am and 10pm. There are also some free parking spots available on Barclay and Denman street depending on the time of day.
